Everyone should know that we have added the OpenID technology to Twin Cities Indymedia. OpenID provides an alternative to corporate identity control schemes like Google Accounts or Microsoft's Passport IDs.Technically, OpenID is a protocol that associates an ID with a URL, and this URL can provide reliable authentication. (this means that linuxguy.openid.net means the same person, across the whole Internet). To add an OpenID URL to your account, go to your user preferences and select the OpenID Identities tab.

At our last meeting we talked about setting up a way for "groups" to register and maintain profile pages on the site. We set up the organic groups module to allow this, but it's not clear that we need or want all of its functionality. Here are some ideas on where we could go next:

-What we want:
-profiles for users and groups that MUST be set up when registering for the site
-A "community" page that lists groups and individual profiles and lets users search them
-A way for all the posts of each individual or group to be agreggated on their "history" section of their profile
-A way for people to "subscribe" to be notified when one of the users they choose posts something

-What we do not want
-email lists for member groups
-Facebook
